I have been teaching in the Eureka School District since August of 1989..  Prior to 1989, I taught for 3 years in Lincoln for Western Placer School District.  I feel that teaching children to “read, write, and do arithmetic” is an  important and a rewarding job.  Good teachers are lifelong learners  – over the years I have taken many courses.   For example, I have attended several GATE workshops and have certification as a GATE teacher.  I also completed rigorous coursework in multicultural education and have my bilingual credential in Spanish.

I’ve been married to my husband for 37 years and we have one adult daughter-Marissa.  My husband was a 37 year engineer for P.G.&E and retired just this year. Our daughter attended school in the Eureka Union School District from K-8th grades and then went on to Granite Bay High School. She attended UC Davis for 4 years and graduated with a B.S. degree in human development. Our daughter lives and works in Carlsbad, Ca. with her husband, Mark, and they are expecting our first grandson in June of 2016.

My hobbies include hiking, ballet (I danced with both SF and Sac. Ballet companies), reading, shopping and traveling. I love the outdoors and prefer the mountains and ocean to the city any day.  Dining out with my husband and family is relaxing for me.  A glass of Napa valley chardonnay (I was born and raised in Napa) and any kind of seafood are my personal favorites.
