This is a huge growth year for your children, emotionally and physically. You can prepare for these changes by making sure your child has a homework routine, a quiet place for them to do work, and access to technology. I would advocate that this be the year they have their own tablets or Chromebooks.See the link below for limiting screen time. Of course you will want to monitor their activities, but assignments through our district server are provided through a safe network. You'll still need to use caution.
Many of our classroom assignments will be available through your child's email account with EUSD. Their email address will look like:
25lastnamefirstinitial@eusdk8.us
and students will always log on to retrieve messages from me, or go to my Google Classroom;
or now (this is new this year; a shared grade level Google Classroom!
These directions will be live once school begins. (Students logon to their google account, then choose Google Classroom from the waffle, the code to access my google classroom is only needed one time: d4y3gqs .) There you'll find enrichment activities as well as sites that can help with automaticity with numbers or science facts.
and look at the programs we have available through our computer lab. Students access these pages at school and may do the same at home. (Through our this district page.) There is a wonderful word processing link and Spelling City is there as well. (Spelling City is where students will find their spelling lists online and will be able to take practice tests as well as play games. Scroll down to the bottom of the page on Spelling City and work your way up. The weeks look like: Unit 1 week 1, then Unit 1, week 2, etc. )
